Punjab should be an ‘education tax free’ state – Dr. Jagjit Singh Dhuri
The demands of students and staff working in private schools will be included in the election manifesto
Federation of Private Schools and Associations of Punjab which represents about 6500 schools in Punjab. About 45 lakh students are enrolled in these schools and 5 lakh families are directly or indirectly employed in these institutions. The 2022 elections are announced by different political parties for different sections. Most of these announcements are in favour of one category only. A joint meeting of the federation, various associations, parents and employees of unaided organizations was held in which it was decided that all these sections would meet the leaders of all the political parties to include the tax free education agenda in the election manifesto. Obeying the demands of parents and employees means obeying the demands of all classes because in institutions children of all classes of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians study. If they give any benefit then all sections of the society will automatically be benefited. In these demands, the organizations have given in writing that if any government comes, it will waive all the taxes levied on the educational organizations, then the organizations will reduce their fees at the same rate and this benefit will be given to the parents. The state president of the Federation of Private Schools, under the leadership of Dr. Jagjit Singh Dhuri district representatives of 23 districts, various associations, parents and transporters meets Sukhbir Singh Badal Shiromani Akali Dal President Mr. Badal took two hours to welcome the demand of the federation which was to benefit the parents. He agreed on the issue of tax free education and instructed Daljit Singh Cheema to include these demands in the election manifesto. On this occasion the representative of eachthe district were also included. Apart from the demands of the parents, accidental insurance up to Rs. 5 lakh for all the employees working in the organizations has also been requested to be included in this election manifesto. Apart from the Akali Dal, the Federation’s representative, met Mr. Ashwani Sharma, BJP president and handed over his demand letter. Within two days the presidents of all the major political parties including Aam Aadmi Party, Congress and Sanyukt Kisan Morcha will be met.
